The Battle of the Big Chokers

Barring the Crusaders, the rest of the semi finalists were all chokers – and big ones at that too. And with the record – holding Kiwis now finally ejected from the games, one of the remaining teams will be called Super Rugby Champions and the other will be known as the choker of all chokers!

Super Rugby 2012 – Final Chapters

While the Lions are left to deal with the controversy that never seems to be too far away from them, two South African teams and two New Zealand teams are left in the competition. Now it is no longer club verses club it is 2 rival rugby nations that will be hell bent on winning glory not only for themselves, but for their Father Lands and countrymen.

Mitchell’s Golden Parachute… Ehemmm Disciplinary Proceedings to Start Today

The Lions may not be playing any rugby at the moment, but still find it hard to keep away from controversy. Head Coach John Mitchell will begin his formal disciplinary proceedings this morning and I am sure that between the 2 parties some kind of financially crippling solution will be reached.

Lions to remain in SupeRugby

Now that the news has been broken, I can now at last say why I maintained that the Lions will play in SupeRugby next season.

Can the Lions Trump the Bulls?

Loftus on Saturday.

Lions Name Almost Unchanged Team for Bulls Clash

There were 2 doubtful starters at the beginning of the week. Thankfully Lionel Mapoe has recovered enough to be selected but Franco van der Merwe didn’t make it.

Grant Hattingh Leaves for the Bulls

There can certainly be cause for litigation against SARU now as apart from the loss in sponsorship revenue and sponsorship exposure, a player has specifically left the Lions as a result of the uncertainty surrounding their Super Rugby future.

Little Lions Cause Major Upset at Craven Week

The Golden Lions caused a major upset yesterday at the Craven Week when they defeated the much fancied KZN team in an enthrawling encounter, deemed to be the match of the day.

I’m a Lion, and always will be

I have been at times very critical of the Lions players over this season, not just due to the results but due to their individual performances. Some have been deserving and some have not, and with all the uncertainty of 2013, I want to re-affirm my uncompromising and undying support for the GLRU and the Lions players.
