Match Preview – Lions vs Sharks

Just got a bit of time for a quick preview. Apologies again, I promise you that next week will be better!

Preparations for Saturday’s match up against the Sharks must have been done under very difficult circumstances, with so many off – field issues on the front burner it could only have been incrediably difficult to focus. With a reduced Currie Cup this year, every game is important – even the away matches and the only salvation and relief that the Lions can bring upon themselves is to keep on winning in the Currie Cup.

Apart from Derick Minnie, I am expecting the team to be much the same as the one that was names last week. I have been out of the loop this week, but I am unaware of any other serious injuries. I think that I saw that the Sharks are worried about Jordan but will delay the naming of their team for as long as possible in order to try accomodate him.

Both the Lions and the Sharks pulled off impressive wins last week and it still might be a little bit too early to clearly predict who the favorite is at this stage. The Lions have not had all that much success at Kingspark and may therefore be considered as the underdogs on this occasion.

I am delighted that our backline is starting to look threatening and especially with how Butch; Waylon and Mapoe combine. Waylon Murray for me has been the suprise package as I always thought of him as a bit of a lateral runner and not the best distributor. He has now shown a great flair for direct running and offloading in the tackle, thus creating gaps for support runners.

Saturday is going to be a big day for Rugby and after a hard week of study school, I may find myself with some self – control issues. So after the Boks beat Argentina by about 15 points and the Lions beat the Sharks by about 5 – the review may end up being written in Manderin or Swahili…..

Listen guys, I know what you all are going through. G – d knows, I’m going through the same and it is killing me that I can’t offer any kind of comfort or to put an end to your suffering if that may be the case. All that I can say is that we are in this together and if you need a platform to rant, then this is it. If you need a space to moan and groan then then do it on WTR.

Let’s not be judgemental with one another – only supportive.

G – d bless.

LV – Thanks again for your positive efforts, once again me and i know all the guys on WTR appreciate your contributions and yes you are so right about all Lions Supporters going through hell today until we know what the verdict will be about our supper rugby status.

As a Lions Supporter all i can say is everything that will happen in that boardroom today, is now in God’s capable hand’s. We can just trust in Him and stay positive that everything works out well for our Union Coaching staff, players and supporters.

I trust and believe that whatever the outcome today, God will help us and end this nightmare once and for all and that the GLRU, it’s Couching Staff, Players and Supporters will from today experience a very, very long successful and prosperous future.
